Cloud Security Testing (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Cloud security testing is an attacker-minded assessment of account configurations, identity and access permissions, and workloads running on platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Nokta Guard identifies misconfigurations and privilege escalation paths, validates their exploitability and reports them with prioritized remediation guidance.

Where do cloud risks come from?

In the cloud, the provider secures the underlying infrastructure while you are responsible for how it is configured (the shared responsibility model). Many incidents stem not from platform flaws but from configuration mistakes such as publicly exposed storage and overly broad permissions.

What do we test?

  • Identity and access management (IAM): Over-privileged roles, privilege escalation paths, stale access keys.
  • Storage: Public or misconfigured storage buckets and backups.
  • Network: Security groups, exposed management ports, segmentation.
  • Compute and containers: Virtual machine, Kubernetes and serverless configurations.
  • Secrets management: Keys and passwords left in code or environment variables.
  • Logging and monitoring: Whether audit logs are enabled and attack steps are visible.

How we work

We test in line with each cloud provider's penetration testing rules and under written authorization.

  1. Scoping: Accounts, subscriptions, regions and services in scope are defined.
  2. Configuration review: Settings are assessed against security best practices using a read-only account.
  3. Attack path analysis: Scenarios starting from a compromised identity or an exposed service are attempted.
  4. Reporting and retesting: Findings are CVSS-scored and retested after remediation.
