Secure Source Code Review

Source code review is a line-level assessment of an application's code for security vulnerabilities using static analysis tools and expert inspection. Nokta Guard manually validates tool findings, removes false positives and delivers fixes your developers can apply directly.

Why review source code?

Some vulnerabilities stay invisible to external testing: hardcoded credentials, weak cryptography, rarely executed code paths. Code-level review exposes these issues along with their root cause.

Catching flaws during development is generally faster and less costly than fixing them in production.

What do we review?

  • Input validation and injection flaws (SQL, command, template injection and more).
  • Authentication, session and authorization logic.
  • Cryptography usage and secrets (passwords, API keys) left in code.
  • Error handling and logging, including sensitive data written to logs.
  • Third-party libraries with known vulnerabilities (software composition analysis).
  • Insecure configuration and leftover debug code.

Our approach

We map findings to the OWASP Top 10:2025 and CWE (Common Weakness Enumeration). Where useful, we apply OWASP ASVS requirements as a checklist.

  1. Scoping: Languages, frameworks, modules and critical workflows are defined.
  2. Automated analysis: Static analysis (SAST) and dependency scanning are performed.
  3. Manual review: Critical flows are reviewed line by line and tool findings are validated.
  4. Reporting: Each issue includes file and line references, severity and a sample fix.
  5. Verification: Fixed code is reviewed again.

Who is it for?

Organizations building their own software, buyers who want security assurance before procurement, and owners of applications handling card or personal data. Combined with a penetration test (white box), it delivers the most complete coverage.

What do you receive?

  • Executive summary and risk distribution.
  • Validated findings with file/line references, CWE mapping and severity.
  • Sample fix code or approach for developers.
  • List of vulnerable dependencies with upgrade guidance.
  • Post-fix verification report.
